In addition to the computers in the main library, which are available for internet, email and research, there is a full computer lab. In 2000, a grant was received through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for this lab. It contains eleven Gateway computers with full Microsoft Office 2000, the Encarta Encylcopaedia Suite, Microsoft Publisher, Internet Explorer, Streets & Trips, plus a wide variety of educational programs and games for children. It is networked through a server managed by library staff, has a projector to be used with a computer and a laser printer. Patrons are welcome to use the lab for internet, research or personal use. Those under 18 years of age do not have access to the internet in the lab. All other programs are available. Internet access is available for them in the main library where there is staff present. Adults do have internet access in the lab.
A number of organizations use this lab for training and teaching.. This room, with attached kitchen, is also used as a meeting room.
Computer classes are held on a regular basis for the adult public. They cover basic computer information, use of the internet and email, as well as word processing and graphics. Information and sign up for these classes are posted at the main desk of the library.
